At the heart of this program is Derrick Brown, widely known as Vitamin D, a prominent figure in Seattle, WA. With nearly 30 years of experience in the industry, Derrick is passionate about mentoring emerging artists in the Pacific Northwest, cultivating a vibrant community of talent eager to make their mark in the music industry. He is dedicated to leaving a lasting legacy and is recognized as one of Seattle’s leading music influencers.
Derrick's journey began with b-boying and has evolved into a successful career as a record producer, DJ, and audio engineer. He has played a pivotal role in shaping the Seattle hip-hop scene and beyond, collaborating with legendary artists such as Macklemore, 50 Cent, Lil Wayne, Kendrick Lamar, Nas, and Snoop Dogg. One notable piece of his work is the opening theme song "Big Rich Town" by 50 Cent, featured in the hit television series Power.
Derrick is well-versed in designing impactful curricula that resonate with students, encouraging them to explore their creativity and develop meaningful skills.
